About Tanner

Tanner Ross first picked up a camera to refine his craft as a cinematographer. Along the way, he discovered film photography—not just as a tool, but as a way of seeing. Shooting on film connects him to his childhood in the ’90s, to the quiet focus of working slowly, and to the unpredictable character of the medium itself.

His work moves between documentary, street, and landscapes, drawn to textures, fleeting moments, and the stories that live in the spaces between them. Tanner aims for his photographs to feel as if the viewer is standing there with him, in that exact light, in that exact air.

Originally from Phoenix, he now calls Portland home. Off-camera, he is a collector of analog—vinyl records, well-worn books, and mechanical timepieces—objects that hold stories of their own.
